Mike Garvey

I am passionate about the development and implementation of truly socialist policies and believe that the best ideas emerge from collaboration and informed discussion. In order to create an effective and representative Government there must be open and transparent communication within the Party and its Members.

Members must be valued and respected and all views acknowledged with the participation and inclusion of all sought and heard.

I have been a Member of the Party since 2010 and I have always been actively been involved in both campaigning and supporting Policy development. I am a Trade Unionist and was a Trade Union Representative until my retirement in 2024.

I am the Constituency Secretary for Runcorn and Helsby and the Secretary of the Cheshire West and Chester Local Government Committee, both roles I have held for over a decade.

In 2018 I was elected to the National Policy Form as one of the North West Constituency Representatives and through this time spoke at many constituency meetings and arranged and facilitated policy forums across the Region. I sat on the National Policy Forum for four years including a period on the Joint Policy Committee.

In 2023 I was elected as a Councillor on the Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council and I am the Labour Group Secretary and Chair of the Staffing Committee.

I am a firm advocate for inclusion, for listening to others, for pressing for change when needed and for seeking a society that is fair and equal for all.
